Description:
A deliciously funny novella that celebrates the pleasure of reading. When the Queen in pursuit of her wandering corgis stumbles upon a mobile library she feels duty bound to borrow a book. Aided by Norman, a young man from the palace kitchen who frequents the library, Bennett describes the Queen's transformation as she discovers the liberating pleasures of the written word. With the poignant and mischievous wit of The History Boys, England's best loved author revels in the power of literature to change even the most uncommon reader's life.
My Quick Thoughts:
This was a short and simple read. It wasn't the best book in the world and it wasn't quite what I expected, but there were some funny moments that made me smile.

Well, then I think I will skip it! Thanks for the comments!
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of this somewhere in my TBR collection. I've heard it's quite delightful by some and only okay by others. I do hope to get to it one of these days! At least it's short so it wouldn't take me long to get through. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's just a couple of hours to read. It's nice and all but I wouldn't write home about it you know? ;)
DeleteIt's interesting how the summary sounds so good, but few reviews say it is as good as suggested. I still want to read it, but it's something to keep in mind.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend it to anyone who loves to read. It's a cute, quick book :)
DeleteI loved this book, there were so many little jokes and snubs buried in the deceptively simple writing. Shame I haven't enjoyed Bennett's other books as much!
ReplyDeleteNow I have to wonder if I'd like his other stuff? Hmmm.
DeleteI got a kick out of this book. Cute, short, and fun. At moments, that's exactly the right book!
ReplyDeleteIt was a sweet little read :)
DeleteIt's cute. Definitely a good read-a-thon or lazy afternoon choice.
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of his other stuff, he has a novella called SMUT! Totally want to read.
ReplyDeleteOh! I did not know that, lol! I'll keep my eyes open!
