Day #11: The Book That Made me Fall in Love with Reading
I remember it like it was yesterday. I read Green Eggs & Ham to my 1st grade class for show and tell. It was the first book I could read all by myself. I thought I was such hot shit. "Look at me classmates! I'm READING!" What a smug little teacher's pet I was.
I'm pretty sure that was also the first time I saw the glazed look of non-interest when I got all bookish on people. Did I care? Nope. I was READING!

Hahah awesome! I love this post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! :)
DeleteDr. Seuss is such a great way to get into reading!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! I loved the rhymey nonsense :)
DeleteMost kids in general do! That's why he's so great!
DeleteAt Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, in Seuss World, there is a great shop with a ton of his actual art and it's really cool! Very kid-like but also very adult-appreciative!
BTW my childhood read was Goodnight Moon and This is the Bear!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like realizing the power of reading!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true!! It was the beginning of EVERYTHING :D
DeleteThree cheers for Dr. Seuss! I always loved Fox in Sox and the tweedle beetle puddle battles. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI learned to read with Dr. Seuss, too. I still remember my euphoria when I read my first book ALL BY MYSELF! :-)
